The Jane Moore Trust Family Placement Service is an independent foster care agency with charitable status. We were established in 1997 and have been making a significant contribution to Scotland’s foster care services from that date.
As a not-for-profit organisation all surplus income is re-invested in the company to enhance services to foster carers and the children they look after.
Company Registration No. 134995 Charity Registration No. SC 020123
The Jane Moore Trust is committed to promoting and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This principal is paramount in all our activities.
It is our belief that each child has the right to a positive experience of family life, enabling them to fulfil their potential in a family where they feel secure and a sense ofbelonging.
Most children and young people are best cared for within their family of origin. However, three are occasions when this is not an option and alternative care arrangements need to be made.
Working in partnership with Local Authorities The Jane Moore Trust Family Placement Service (FPS) is committed to providing a high quality, foster care service to those children and young people looked after and accommodated by Local Authorities, whose needs will best be met by placement within an alternative family setting.
It is our aim to promote a culture where all people are valued - children & young people; foster & respite carers; staff and those with whom we work with in partnership.
To ensure that foster and respite carers have the necessary skills, we provide:
* A thorough and comprehensive assessment [including all statutory checks] and preparation period for new applicants.
* A skilled and experienced foster care panel that makes a recommendation on all assessments and annual foster carer reviews.
* A robust matching process to ensure that the skills of foster carers are able to meet the particular needs of individual children.
* Support from highly motivated and trained staff, including 24hour emergency telephone support.
* A generous financial packaged, reviewed each year.
* Five weeks paid respite a year.
* A commitment to the provision of ongoing training and learning opportunities for foster and respite carers, staff and panel members.
Foster carers are expected to:
* Actively promote children and young peoples welfare, including an awareness of a child's previous life experiences.
* Advocate on a child's behalf.
* Ensure that a child's health and education needs are met.
* Contribute to children's reviews and planning meetings.
* Support ongoing contact with families of birth where appropriate.
* Protect children from abuse, neglect and deprivation.
* Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities.
